Still, there was no lion and my expectation only grew stronger.

One of the things I hadn’t fully appreciated before this experience was how collaborative safari guiding really is. Every few moments, our guide’s radio crackled to life. Guides across the park were constantly communicating, sharing sightings and exchanging information that could help everyone enjoy the best possible wildlife encounters.

That only heightened the suspense.Then, almost without warning, everything changed.

There she was! Emerging from the bush with an effortless confidence that immediately commanded everyone’s attention was a lioness. She was larger than I had ever imagined. Powerful. Muscular. Every step carried quiet
