His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is refreshingly straightforward. “The sky is not the limit,” he says. “Believe in yourself. God has given us creativity. Start with what you have, and keep learning.” In many ways, Fushayi’s journey is about more than a refreshing drink. It is about recognising the value of what has always existed, transforming indigenous knowledge into modern enterprise, and demonstrating that some of Botswana’s greatest business opportunities may already be growing in its own backyard.

“Some people underestimated both the product and the potential of the fruit,” he recalls. “But determination kept us going.” Today, Fushayi’s ambitions extend well beyond juice. Already, the company has expanded its production to include producing baobab coffee, iced tea, powdered baobab and baobab oil for personal care. Future plans include expanding into cosmetic products such as soaps; while in the food space we may enjoy a yoghurt from the company soon and in doing so, creating even greater value from one of Botswana’s best-known indigenous resources.
