One of the weekend’s defining moments came when Romeo De Medley joined the Afri Melodic Ensemble for a surprise collaborative performance. Blending Afro electronic music with traditional marimba, the performance captured the festival’s spirit—celebrating Botswana’s cultural heritage while embracing contemporary creativity. Following the success of its inaugural edition, Echoes of the Wild will return during the Botswana President’s Holidays as an expanded Echoes Week from 12–20 July 2027. The programme will grow to include film, theatre, comedy, poetry, fashion, visual arts and cultural showcases, alongside interactive experiences such as traditional dance lessons and hands-on cultural activities that allow visitors to engage more deeply with Botswana’s heritage. The organisers also plan to introduce dedicated travel packages for young people aged 16 and above, making it easier for Botswana’s youth to explore their own country through safe, organised and affordable travel experiences. Their long-term vision is to position Kasane as a destination where tourism, music, arts and culture come together to create unforgettable experiences. As Echoes of the Wild continues to grow, it is proving that tourism is about more than spectacular landscapes and wildlife. It is also about people, creativity, culture and the shared experiences that connect communities while inspiring a new generation of travellers.
