Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris)
The Helmeted Guineafowl is one of Botswana’s most familiar birds, instantly recognised by its striking spotted plumage and distinctive blue face. Highly social by nature, these birds are usually seen moving in noisy flocks as they forage for seeds, insects and small invertebrates. In Chobe National Park, they are a common yet colourful reminder that even the park’s smaller wildlife contributes to its extraordinary biodiversity.
