accommodation, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, professional services, tourist attractions and investment opportunities across Gaborone using their mobile phones. Rather than relying on traditional brochures or printed visitor guides, the platform delivers continually updated information that helps travellers plan their stay before the aircraft even lands. At the same time, it creates valuable exposure for local businesses—from hotels and restaurants to tour operators, retailers and professional service providers—connecting them directly with visitors actively looking for places to explore. Speaking at the launch, GCIC Chief Executive Officer Kabo Bruno Moitoi described the initiative as far more than a catering solution, saying the meal box serves as a gateway to the city and the opportunities it offers. The collaboration reflects a broader vision of linking aviation, tourism, commerce and digital

technology to strengthen Botswana’s economy through innovation.

Both initiatives have received strong support from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, with Minister Noah Salakae highlighting them as examples of how partnerships between the public and private sectors can enhance the passenger experience while creating wider economic opportunities for Botswana. Viewed together, the refurbished Pula Lounge and the digitally enabled meal box tell a larger story. One welcomes travellers before departure. The other introduces them to Botswana while they are still in the air. Both demonstrate how thoughtful partnerships can transform routine moments of travel into meaningful experiences. For Air Botswana, the destination is no longer the only part of the journey that matters. The journey itself has become an invitation to discover Botswana.
